Question of the Week

What’s your OC’s personality like?

I think that would cover most of the basics for a reader to get an idea of what to expect.

How much do you torture your characters? (Alternatively: Do your characters kill people, why or why not?) :joy:

I think I’d get a pretty good understanding of them as people after that :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I’d dive straight into the Freudian/Jungian nonsense. What youthful traumas shaped your OC?

@DeanRivers I wish one of my readers would think that :joy: Twice she left long comments about my one of important side characters, kinda… whine? But didn’t question why he behaved that way.

Okay, I would ask why OC take deliberate time or rushing through big/small decisions mostly? This way, I can tell what they truly fear.

A stranger approaches them on the street and spits in their face – what do they do?

Question of the Day: 3/15

The last character you wrote for is lost in the jungle, armed with only their wits to survive. What is their fate? :eyes:

Emilia from Mysterious Signals - yes, good equipment, stun gun and all, she’ll be fine
Marina from Royal Bloodline - they’d be either afraid of her or befriend her, depending on personality choice

I feel like Vilandra might stand a chance, but then she’s never had to provide food for herself, so… 50/50 chance

Well… He escaped from the attacking army during WW2 and survived through the jungles, all while he didn’t know most things about human world. He could do it again, but he’ll punch someone for placing him there again.

Question of the Day: 3/16

Have you ever read your work out loud? Why or why not? Was it for an event, or is it just part of your proof-reading process?

I’ve never read my work out loud to myself but I have read it out loud for a live read!

But I really like hearing others read my work out loud. It really helps see if your work is coming across the way it needs to be read.

Agreed, hearing other people read your work (while very nerve-wracking) is a great way to see where you may need to tighten things up, explain a little more, etc.

But what about hearing YOU read your work? Have you ever done that :eyes:

Only things I’ve written and read out loud were presentations, to check the time and flow of the speech
otherwise, nah, I only listen to my inner voice  much more fun with different voices speaking for different characters

I also don’t like to hear my own voice or see myself, though I do get it can be beneficial
