When the king of Briacia dies, none is as happy as Annora, his former concubine and murderer. Even so her happiness is crushed as the royal council elects princess Zahra as new sovereign. As her now enemy takes the throne, Annora needs a new plan to escape her golden cage. However Zahra has no intention to let her go, she rather holds her even closer.
